How does your day look like?

I am a big fan of structure and rituals, so I always start my day with a yoga practice and a walk.

Then my days will vary enormously. I will either be in the office, at home or on the road visiting clients. The common denominator to all is making sure I allow enough thinking and preparation time so I can give my best, whether I coach C-Suite individuals or teams, deliver industry workshops or facilitate events.

What are the things you most love about your job?

I like many things but the creative aspect, the opportunity to connect with a wide variety of people and cultures and my differentiated contribution to the financial industry are some of my favourite things. I love supporting my client’s career and growth and contributing to a wider community.

What are some of the skills you utilise the most in your day-to-day?

Without a doubt it will be listening and this with awareness. I also make sure I express gratitude to the people I collaborate with.

What was one of your happiest days in your career and why?

There are many to mention but some highlights are:

  • When I transferred to Singapore and New York with the firm I was with at the time. Feeling supported and trusted by my leadership was big boost to my confidence and willingness to succeed.

  • When I went back to school and became an executive coach and got my accreditation with the ICF this really marked the beginning of my career transition, and I felt very proud.

  • When I pushed the doors of Goldman Sachs 10 years ago in a new capacity and got the opportunity to create, shape and define the role I am in today.

What has been the greatest challenge in your career path and how did you overcome it?

After running my own business for 3 years, I decided to re-enter the workforce but chose not to go back to my past career as a salesperson in global markets. It would have been tempting to as it was the path of least resistance.  But I persevered and asked for help sought advice and feedback from my network and peers. It paid off as one of my friends directed me towards the asset manager space and I never looked back.

What is something you had to learn to become better at your job?

Respecting that everyone moves at their own pace.

How did you become Head of Business Strategy at Goldman Sachs?

Without a doubt I would say consistency in the quality of my work, communication and a collaborative approach with my multiple stakeholders. Being proactive and creative at bringing solutions to the business I support.

This anchored by a strong personal brand. But career advancement is an active partnership between you and your leadership that’s an important part. So, mentors and sponsors are also key to success.

What are the top three pieces of advice you would give to other women aiming to achieve long-term success in their careers?

  • You can have it all, but not at the same time.

  • Actively manage your career and seek feedback, advice and lead with curiosity.

  • Do not self-censore or limiting yourself when it comes to new roles. Spend time crafting and owning your narrative, your personal brand.

Professional networking for women matters because...

Women are in general good advocates for each other.  Women networking platform can be a great space to rehearse and refine networking and communication techniques as they can provide a more relaxed environment. I find that communication and connections are authentic and quicker in a female forum.

What makes you gracefullyBOLD?

Without a doubt maturity, experience and feeling less fearful as the years go by!

How do you deal with stress and build resilience?

  • Sports is extremely important for my mental and physical well-being so I am very discipline at practising it, whether it is yoga, swimming, playing tennis and lifting weights.

  • Taking deep breaths during the day helps me reset “on the go”.

  • Travelling and taking time out is essential to me to stay balanced.

What would have been an alternative career path?

I love this question. For sure some sort of performer; probably a singer!

What are some of your favourite strategies for building and maintaining confidence in professional life?

Having growth mindset and the ability and willingness to keep learning. Being open, curious, agile and adaptive. Actively seeking feedback from people, you respect including mentors and peers .

Who is a (female) professional that inspired you along your career journey?

I was in a small business school in France with a strong desire to study abroad and not sure how my mum could afford it.

I went on an exchange with this school to a UK university for a week. I expressed my desire to come and study there and I met this incredible woman who helped me make my dream come true. And with that she completely change the course of my life and career forever.  It is probably why today I am a trustee of a charity called "My Big Career" enabling young people from a low social background to gain access to university.
